The missing link

For you have ten-thousand instructors

But not many fathers

Not many mothers

Yet many continue to run

As did the prodigal son

While they continue to shun

The necessary pressure

It takes to process

A precious stone

In the midst of development

They groan and moan

Consider however this riddle

Out of the strong

Comes forth sweetness

Don't be surprised

We all know what fatigue is

The spirit indeed is willing

But the flesh is weak

Now step back a moment

Before you speak

Consider your present state

Take a personal inventory

Evaluate your personal progress

Then critique

Whether or not

You've reached your peak

Who is your role model?

Who are you allowing

To presently speak

Into your life?

Are their words uplifting and nurturing

Or sharp as a knife?

Are you willing

To change and be rearranged?

Or do you prefer

To be impotent and lamed?

For your decision

To submit or to run

Will determine

When and whether

Progress will come

As Ben Franklin did say

Good intentions count for nothing

It's proper execution that counts

Thus mentoring is the route

To arise, break barriers and surmount!

So embrace and take hold of it now

Though you may not fully

Know exactly how

Transformation inside

Precedes transformation outside

Neither is it always

A smooth joyous ride

Yet when it is all

Said and fully done

You will be handsomely rewarded

With fulfillment and fun!

Mentoring is paramount

Admittedly it is not always bliss

But undoubtedly it is the key

To metamorphosis.
