A Simple "Thank you" Would Suffice

As human beings, we all need to feel appreciated in the workplace. Receiving a paycheck and receiving a pat on the back are two separate entities. Having a sense of self-worth and value motivates efficient work habits. After all, no one likes to be taken for granted. Many employers settle on using holiday bonuses to say “thank you” to their employees. Most, if not all, employees look forward to their holiday bonuses. But, these year-end bonuses are expected.

What about a bonus that is unexpected? The average person likes surprises (a good surprise that is). Corporations are starting to catch on to the idea of giving corporate gifts. Imagine showing up to work one day with a gift on your desk from your employer with a note attached stating “Job well done” or “Keep up the good work”. How would you feel? You would feel appreciated, of course.

Whether your employer gives you a personalized business card holder or a corporate corporate wine basket, you are sure to feel valued--especially when a simple “thank you” would suffice. Corporate gifts have transitioned from your typical corporate pen or desk clock. In fact, there is a surfeit of business gift options. Let’s take a look at some of these unique corporate gift ideas:

• Awards
• Chocolate
• Cufflinks
• Games
• Leatherwear
• Money clips

There are gender specific business gifts available, as well. You might consider giving a male employee a pair of cufflinks or a unique timepiece. A female employee might enjoy receiving a corporate gift basket or silk screened chocolate. These are just a few of the many possible gifts that can be given to say “thank you” to your employees.

Research has shown that corporate gifts are a perfect way to boost company morale. Let’s face it, the price of gas is steadily going up, taxes are increasing, real estate is not a seller’s market, and jobs are falling by the wayside. With the economy so greatly affected, it’s difficult for employees to maintain a cheerful attitude, good work habits, and a motivating drive. Corporate gifts are a great way to start. So, whether you are an employee or an employer, consider telling someone that their hard work is appreciated. Try corporate gift giving.
